The Microsoft Teams connector is currently in beta and subject to the beta terms of your agreement.
To connect Microsoft Teams to Notion AI, you must be:
A Microsoft Teams admin.
A Notion workspace owner.
You must be on Notion’s Business or Enterprise Plan.
Permissions for specific content will follow Microsoft – users will only see content they have access to.
To connect Microsoft Teams to your Notion workspace:
In Notion, navigate to the the Microsoft Teams AI Connector by going to
Settings→Notion AI→Microsoft Teamsin the AI Connectors section.Click on
Microsoft Teamsand follow the instructions in Notion to start the connection. Keep Notion open during this process!You will be redirected to Microsoft in a new tab, asking to accept application permissions. Click
Accept.Once the installation is complete, return to Notion. You'll see a new modal on your screen. Click
Got itto complete your setup orCustomize connected contentto customize your connection.The connection can take up to 36 hours to complete.
You can manage the connection by opening Notion AI at the bottom of your screen and clicking on →
Connect Microsoft Team→Settings.

The integration can access messages dating back one year from the setup date.
For example, if you connect Microsoft Teams with Notion AI on June 1, 2024, you'll have access to messages from June 1, 2023 onward.
The initial setup can take up to 36 hours to complete, depending on how much content exists in your public channels.

New messages in public channels become searchable within 30 minutes.

By default, Notion AI syncs all private (1:1 and group chats), public, and shared channels in the selected teams.
During setup, Notion workspace owners can choose which specific teams to sync—including future teams. This requires approval from both the Notion workspace owner and Microsoft Teams admin.

Only users who are members of both Microsoft Teams and the Notion workspace can use this integration. Notion AI synchronizes member permissions between platforms and monitors access changes in real time through account mapping and event subscriptions.
Here are examples of how permissions are managed:
Users added to a private Multi DM can only access chat content from their join date forward, regardless of earlier message history in Microsoft Teams.
Users removed from a private Multi DM can only access messages from when they were active members during the Teams-Notion AI connection.
Message edits or deletions in Microsoft Teams sync instantly through webhooks.
Guest users in either Microsoft Teams or Notion cannot use Notion AI. When a guest becomes a full member in both platforms, their permissions update automatically.
Team removal triggers immediate permission updates.
What happens to messages when my team is added to a shared channel?
What happens to messages when my team is added to a shared channel?
When a team joins a shared channel, members get immediate access to new messages. However, it may take up to 24 hours for older messages to become searchable.
If a team is removed from a shared channel, they immediately lose access to new messages but retain the ability to search older messages for 24 hours.

No, all external messages and channels are excluded.

Microsoft Teams content is stored as embeddings in vector databases like Turbopuffer. These embeddings enable efficient text searches and comparisons to provide relevant responses to your questions.

To disconnect Microsoft Teams, open Notion AI at the bottom of your screen and click on → Connect Microsoft Teams → Settings → Disconnect.
Upon disconnection, your Microsoft Teams content becomes immediately unsearchable, and all related data is deleted within one day of the request.
